Water Project

Phase one of the water project is complete.  Many areas of the village received new water mains and water meters.  The contractors have returned to complete the seeding and mulching of areas affected by the construction. We remind everyone to be aware of the areas where new grass seed has been sown and ask that you please refrain from parking or driving over those areas at this time to allow the grass to grow back.

The Village was awarded a grant in the amount of $500,000 from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) for Phase Two of the water project. Phase two will replace the remaining water mains throughout the Village and is expected to begin later this year.

The Village was also awarded a grant in the amount of $251,000 from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to assist with water system improvements.  A low interest loan was obtained through USDA to refinance the current water infrastructure loan and provide the additional leverage funds required for Phase Two of the project.

Some changes have taken place at the water plant to improve the quality of the water as it leaves the plant.  We continue our efforts to bring you clean drinking water. However, there may be occasional instances when the quality of the water is not ideal, especially during the upcoming construction.  If you experience extended periods of discolored water, please contact the water department at 217-676-5251 or the village hall at 217-676-2006 or villagemta@gmail.com.
