Recycling Landscape Material

Landscape recycling not only eliminates the cost, fuel consumption and carbon emissions of transporting bags and bundles of landscape material but provides nutrient-rich resources for the home landscape. Best practices for recycling landscape waste at home include composting, leaving grass clippings on the lawn, mulching leaves and chipping woody material.

Think about opting out of hauling off landscape waste and recycle some or all your landscape resources at home. Here is a link to a great resource on Composting At Home.

Burning of Landscape Waste

Burning on-sight generated landscape is permitted in the Village of Mount Auburn. If you chose to do so, please:

  • Be considerate of your neighbors property and any respiratory health concerns.
  • Refrain from burning wet or damp materials or during unfavorable wind conditions.
  • Diligently tend to your fire. Never leave a fire unattended.
  • Notify the Mt. Auburn Fire Department of any large burns. (217) 676-3711
